Who will be your Doctor? Part 2

Doctor Who
American Candidates:
As The Doctor will always more than likely be played by someone British, it could be fun to see what an American can do with the part.

His role as Ford Prefect in The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy may as well be a demo reel for the part. A man from space, who is slightly off, and  travels the galaxy looking for adventure. Just add travels trough time as well as space and you practically have the Doctor already. I can’t say that I am very familiar with his music, but with what little I have seen of his career as an actor has convinced me that he could do it.

Another alum from The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy, Rockwell is very good and convincingly dumb and slightly insane as Zaphode Beeblebrox, the president of the Galaxy. To me his career seems to fly under the radar even though he has played both comedy and drama with amazing ability in films like Galaxy Quest, Moon, and The Green Mile.  So if he were ever in consideration, he should be placed high on the list.

A veteran of science fiction, Alan Tudyk had played comedic and dark/twisted characters. He is also no stranger to being in TV series that many Americans have not seen that are very good. (Firefly, Dollhouse) He can be both funny and dangerous as the same character and definitely play tortured.
